Mobile Barcode (e-Invoice Carrier) Generator

Redraw it as Code 39 and download a PNG that prints cleanly

In Taiwan, your e-invoices can be tied to a mobile barcode (手機條碼): an 8-character code starting with "/" that is issued by the Ministry of Finance e-Invoice Platform. The most common mistake when making one into a card or sticker is enlarging a screenshot: the edges blur and scanners cannot read it. This tool redraws every bar as a vector from the Code 39 specification, up to 3 at a time. The barcode and the images stay in your browser and are never uploaded.

📋 Mobile barcode format

  • 8 characters: the first is always "/", the other 7 come from 0-9, capital A-Z, and the symbols "." "-" "+"
  • Code 39 format
  • The current rules only require the barcode itself and its content; the words "手機條碼:" (Chinese for "mobile barcode") may be added. There is no rule on size, type size or the phone number's last 3 digits.
  • This tool follows the common practice: a 60 mm × 20 mm barcode body with "手機條碼:" + the barcode content below it in 8–12 pt type. Your phone number is not needed and not printed. The label is printed in Chinese on purpose, because that is the format the scanners and shop staff in Taiwan expect.

Source: Ministry of Finance e-Invoice Platform, "Notes on applying for and using the e-invoice universal carrier: mobile barcode", Ver 1.3 (1 July 2026), section 6 (陸). The 60×20 mm size, the 8–12 pt type and the last 3 digits of the phone number come from an older edition that stopped applying in 2018; the current edition no longer contains them. This tool keeps the size and type size because they scan well and shop staff recognise them.

① Enter your mobile barcode

Barcode 1

Why a limit of 3: an 8-character mobile barcode encoded in Code 39 is 179 modules wide (including the quiet zones). With 3 on one card the bar height is just above the commonly recommended minimum; a fourth would not scan reliably.

Layout

Note: after printing, scan it yourself first (with the e-invoice app or any barcode scanner) before you use it at a checkout. Paper, ink and printer resolution all affect whether it reads, and this site cannot verify a physical print for you.

  • Phone (on-screen): Pure black on white for maximum contrast, with bar widths snapped to whole pixels so the image stays sharp when your phone scales it.
  • 7-Eleven ibon sticker / photo print: 4×6 inches = 1200×1800 px at 300 dpi. For stickers, ask the store staff to load sticker paper first. (ibon 4×6 prints are full-bleed and the machine trims slightly, so no bleed is set; a 5 mm safe margin is used instead)
  • PVC card, print-ready file: 85.6×54.0 mm + 1.5 mm bleed per side = 88.6×57.0 mm = 1046×673 px at 300 dpi. (Customary UV-printing bleed for PVC cards is +1.5 mm per side; follow your printer's own spec)
  • Small card (85×55 mm): 85×55 mm + 3 mm bleed per side = 91×61 mm = 1075×720 px at 300 dpi. (Customary offset-printing bleed for paper cards is +3 mm per side; follow your printer's own spec)

What this tool does not do

  • It does not print anything or handle payment. It only gives you the file; take it to an ibon machine or a print shop yourself.
  • It does not make Apple Wallet passes. That needs a signing server plus a US$99-a-year developer account, which conflicts with "no backend, no collecting your data".
  • It does not make convenience-store membership barcodes. Those belong to other companies' systems and involve loyalty points.
  • It cannot apply for a mobile barcode for you. Applications go through the Ministry of Finance e-Invoice Platform; this site never handles your phone number or verification code.

FAQ

Is a "carrier barcode" the same thing as a "mobile barcode"?
This tool produces the "mobile barcode" (手機條碼): one of the universal carriers issued by the Ministry of Finance e-Invoice Platform. It is 8 characters long and starts with "/". "Carrier" (載具) is the broader category and also includes member carriers, Citizen Digital Certificate carriers and others. People search for "carrier barcode", so that is the name used here, but the official name of the thing printed on the card is mobile barcode.
Why redraw it instead of taking a screenshot?
A screenshot is a bitmap. Enlarged to card size it turns blurry, and blurry bar edges are hard for a scanner to read. Here every bar width is worked out from the Code 39 specification and drawn as vector graphics, with bar widths snapped to whole pixels on export, so the edges stay solid at any print size.
What should be printed under the barcode? Do I need the last 3 digits of my phone number?
Only the barcode content is required. Section 6 (陸) of the platform's notes on the mobile barcode, current version Ver 1.3 (1 July 2026), says the barcode must include the barcode itself and its content, and may carry the words 手機條碼:. The phone number's last 3 digits and the 8–12 pt type size come from an older edition that stopped applying in 2018 and are no longer in the current one, so this tool does not ask for or print your phone number. The line below the barcode reads 手機條碼: plus the barcode content, as in the Ministry's example. Its practical use is that if the barcode gets scratched or the print smudges, the clerk can type it in by hand.
How many mobile barcodes fit on one card?
3. An 8-character mobile barcode in Code 39 is 179 modules wide including the quiet zones. On an 85.6 mm wide card the X dimension is about 0.42 mm, and split three ways each bar is about 12 mm high, which just fills one side. More than that would drop below the commonly recommended minimum bar height for linear barcodes (15% of the symbol length).
How much bleed should I use?
It depends on your printer. The customary bleed for UV printing on PVC cards is 1.5 mm per side, and for offset printing on paper cards it is 3 mm per side. That is why each layout has a default that you can change; it is not hard-coded. Follow your printer's specification when you order.
Is my mobile barcode recorded anywhere?
No. The barcode string and the generated images stay in your browser and are never uploaded. That is also why this page has no "save" button and does not put your barcode in the web address: both of those would send it off your device.
Can this site print it for me?
No. This site only produces the file. It does not print anything and does not take payment. Take the file to an ibon machine or a print shop yourself.
